이 단백질은 포스파티딜에탄올아민 결합 활성 및 유비퀴틴 단백질 연결효소(ubiquitin protein ligase) 결합 활성을 가능하게 한다. 프로테아좀 단백질 이화 과정과 소포체(endoplasmic reticulum)로의 단백질 위치화의 음성 조절에 관여한다. 이 단백질은 골지 막(Golgi membrane)과 자가포식소체 막(autophagosome membrane)에 위치한다.
