유전자 개요

이 유전자는 특징적인 포크헤드 도메인(forkhead domain)을 가진 포크헤드 계열 전사 인자(transcription factor)에 속한다. 세포 사멸에 필요한 유전자들의 발현을 통해 세포자멸사(apoptosis)의 방아쇠 역할을 할 것으로 보인다. 이 유전자가 MLL 유전자와 함께 전위되는 것은 이차성 급성 백혈병(acute leukemia)과 관련이 있다. 동일한 단백질을 암호화하는 대체 스플라이스 전사체 변이체(spliced transcript variants)가 관찰되었다.
