유전자 개요

FOXA2는 DNA 결합 단백질의 포크헤드(forkhead) 계열에 속하는 전사인자를 암호화한다. 이 간세포 핵인자(hepatocyte nuclear factor)는 알부민(albumin), 트랜스티레틴(transthyretin)과 같은 간 특이적 유전자의 전사 활성화 인자로 작용하며 염색질(chromatin)과도 상호작용한다. 또한 젊은 성인 발병형 당뇨병(MODY)의 산발적 사례와 연관되어 있으며, 서로 다른 아이소폼(isoform)을 암호화하는 여러 전사체 변이(transcript variant)가 확인되었다.
