이 유전자는 ETS DNA 결합 도메인을 포함하는 전사인자(transcription factor)를 암호화합니다. 이 유전자는 염색체 22번 상의 유잉 육종(Ewing sarcoma) 유전자와 t(11;22)(q24;q12) 전좌(translocation)를 겪을 수 있으며, 이는 대부분의 유잉 육종 사례에서 나타나는 융합 유전자를 생성합니다. 또한 이 유전자를 포함하는 급성 림프모구 백혈병(acute lymphoblastic leukemia) 관련 t(4;11)(q21;q23) 전좌도 확인되었습니다. 대안적 스플라이싱(alternative splicing)으로 인해 여러 전사 변이체(transcript variant)가 존재합니다.
