유전자 개요

FGF23는 광범위한 유사분열 촉진(mitogenic) 및 세포 생존 활성을 지니고 다양한 생물학적 과정에 관여하는 섬유아세포 성장 인자(fibroblast growth factor) 단백질 계열의 구성원을 암호화하며, 그 산물은 신장에서 인산염 항상성(phosphate homeostasis)과 수송을 조절한다. 전장 기능 단백질은 N-말단 및 C-말단 사슬로 절단되어 비활성화될 수 있는데, 이 절단 부위의 돌연변이(mutation)는 상염색체 우성 저인산혈증성 구루병(ADHR)을 유발한다. FGF23의 돌연변이는 고인산혈증성 가족성 종양성 석회증(HFTC)과도 연관된다.
