이 유전자로 암호화된 단백질은 섬유아세포 성장 인자(fibroblast growth factor, FGF) 계열의 구성원입니다. FGF 계열 구성원은 광범위한 세포 증식 및 생존 활성을 나타내며, 배아 발달, 세포 성장, 형태 형성, 조직 복구, 종양 성장 및 침입을 포함한 다양한 생물학적 과정에 관여합니다. 이 유전자의 마우스 상동체(homolog)는 모낭의 내근초에서 우선적으로 발현되는 것으로 밝혀져 모발 발달에서의 역할을 시사했습니다. 대사합니다. 대체 스플라이싱은 여러 전사체 변이체를 초래합니다.
