FCGR2A 유전자는 면역 반응 세포 표면에 위치한 면역글로불린 Fc 수용체(immunoglobulin Fc receptor) 유전자 family의 한 구성원을 암호화한다. 이 유전자가 지정하는 단백질은 대식세포(macrophage)와 호중구(neutrophil) 같은 식세포 표면에 존재하는 수용체(receptor)로, 면역 복합체의 식작용(phagocytosis)과 제거 과정에 참여한다. 선택적 스플라이싱(alternative splicing)에 의해 여러 전사체 변이체(transcript variant)이 만들어진다.
