FBP1은 포도당신생합성(gluconeogenesis)의 조절 효소인 과당-1,6-이인산가수분해효소 1(Fructose-1,6-bisphosphatase 1)로, 과당 1,6-이인산(fructose 1,6-bisphosphate)을 과당 6-인산(fructose 6-phosphate)과 무기인산으로 가수분해하는 반응을 촉매한다. 과당-1,6-이인산가수분해효소 결핍(Fructose-1,6-diphosphatase deficiency)은 저혈당증(hypoglycemia) 및 대사성 산증(metabolic acidosis)과 연관된다.
