MAPK15 유전자는 MAP 키나아제 활성 및 염색질 결합 활성에 기여합니다. 또한 도파민 흡수, 단백질의 섬모 이행부(ciliary transition zone)로의 위치 지정, 세포소기관 조직화 조절 등 여러 과정에 관여합니다. 이 단백질은 골지체, 자가포식소체(autophagosome), 미세소관 조직 중심(microtubule organizing center) 등 다양한 세포 구성 요소에서 발견됩니다. MAPK15는 유방암의 바이오마커로 사용됩니다.
