유전자 개요

이 유전자는 일반적인 DNA 결합 T-box 도메인을 공유하는 T-box 유전자 중 TBR1 (T-box brain protein 1) 서브패밀리(subfamily)에 속합니다. 이 유전자에서 암호화되는 단백질은 척추동물의 중배엽 및 중추신경계의 배아 발달에 중요한 전사인자(transcription factor)입니다. 또한, 바이러스 감염 방어에 관여하는 효과기 CD8+ T 세포의 분화에도 필요할 수 있습니다. 쥐에서 기능이 파괴된 유사 유전자는 영양막 발달 및 원장 형성에 필수적인 것으로 나타났습니다. 대체 스플라이싱(alternative splicing)으로 여러 전사 변이체가 생성됩니다.
