유전자 개요
EEF2K는 칼모듈린(calmodulin) 매개 신호전달 경로에서 세포 표면 수용체의 활성화를 세포 분열에 연결하는 고도로 보존된 단백질 키나아제(protein kinase)를 암호화한다. 이 키나아제는 단백질 합성 조절에 관여하며, 진핵세포 연장 인자 2(EEF2)를 인산화하여 EEF2의 기능을 억제한다. 이 키나아제의 활성은 많은 암(cancer)에서 증가하며, 항암(anti-cancer) 치료의 유효한 표적이 될 수 있다.
