유전자 개요
이 유전자는 리보솜으로의 아미노아실-tRNA(aminoacyl-tRNAs)의 효소적 전달을 담당하는 신장 인자-1 복합체(elongation factor-1 complex)의 알파 소단위체 아이소폼(isoform)을 암호화한다. 이 이소형(알파 1)은 뇌, 태반, 폐, 간, 신장, 췌장에서 발현되며, 다른 이소형(알파 2)은 뇌, 심장, 골격근에서 발현된다. 이 이소형은 펠티 증후군(Felty syndrome) 환자의 66%에서 자가 항원(autoantigen)으로 확인되었다. 이 유전자는 많은 염색체에 여러 복제본이 존재하며, 이들 중 일부 또는 전부가 서로 다른 유사 위유전자(pseudogenes)를 나타낼 수 있다.
