유전자 개요
DPP9 유전자는 세린 단백질분해효소(serine protease) S9B족 clan SC에 속하는 단백질을 암호화합니다. 이 단백질은 Xaa-Pro 디펩티드(dipeptide)를 단백질 N-말단에서 절단하는 프로스트-프롤린 디펩티딜 아미노펩티다제(post-proline dipeptidyl aminopeptidase) 활성을 갖는 것으로 알려져 있습니다. 이 단백질의 활성은 디펩티딜 펩티다제 4(dipeptidyl peptidase 4, DPP4)와 유사하지만, 막(membrane)에 결합되어 있지는 않은 것으로 보입니다. 일반적으로 디펩티딜 펩티다제는 기질의 활성 조절에 관여하며 제2형 당뇨병, 비만, 암(cancer) 등 다양한 질병과 관련이 있습니다. 이 유전자에는 여러 전사체 변이체(transcript variant)이 보고되었으나 완전히 특성화되지는 않았습니다.
