유전자 개요
대뇌피질(cerebral cortex) 내 다양한 뉴런(neuron) 유형의 층상 조직은 정상적인 인지 기능에 필요하다. 쥐에서 disabled-1 유전자(gene)는 뇌 발달에 핵심 역할을 하며, 피질 뉴런(cortical neuron)이 먼저 형성된 뉴런을 지나 자신의 적절한 층에 도달하도록 이동을 유도한다. 이 유전자는 disabled-1과 유사하고, 이 유전자가 암호화하는 단백질은 단백질 키나아제(protein kinase) 경로와 상호작용하여 발달 중인 뇌의 뉴런 위치를 조절하는 신호 전달체(signal transducer)로 여겨진다.
