유전자 개요
이 유전자는 사이토크롬 P450(cytochrome P450) 계열 효소(enzyme)의 한 구성원을 암호화합니다. 이 효소 단백질은 약물 대사 및 콜레스테롤, 스테로이드, 기타 지질 합성에 관련된 여러 반응을 촉매하는 모노옥시게나아제(monooxygenase)입니다. 이 단백질은 소포체(endoplasmic reticulum)에 국소화되며 에탄올, 당뇨병 상태, 금식에 의해 유도됩니다. 이 효소는 에탄올, 아세톤, 아세탈과 같은 내인성 기질과 담배 연기에서 발견되는 전(premutagen)인 벤젠, 사염화탄소, 에틸렌글리콜, 니트로사민을 포함한 외인성 기질 모두를 대사합니다. 여러 기질로 인해 이 효소는 당신생성, 간경변(cirrhosis), 당뇨병, 암(cancer)과 같은 다양한 과정에 관여할 수 있습니다.
