유전자 개요
CYP1A1은 시토크롬 P450(cytochrome P450) 효소 슈퍼패밀리(superfamily)의 구성원을 암호화하며, 이 단백질군은 약물 대사와 콜레스테롤·스테로이드 및 기타 지질 합성에 관여하는 여러 반응을 촉매하는 모노옥시게나아제(monooxygenase)이다. 단백질은 소포체(endoplasmic reticulum)에 국재하고 담배 연기에 포함된 일부 다환 방향족 탄화수소(PAHs)에 의해 발현이 유도되며, 내인성 기질(substrate)은 알려져 있지 않으나 일부 PAHs를 발암성 중간체로 대사할 수 있다. CYP1A1은 폐암(lung cancer) 위험과 연관되어 있으며, 대체 스플라이싱(alternative splicing)을 통해 서로 다른 아이소폼을 암호화하는 여러 전사체 변이가 생성된다.
