유전자 개요
CYB5R3 유전자는 사이토크롬 b5 환원효소를 암호화한다. 이 효소는 체세포에는 소포체(endoplasmic reticulum), 미토콘드리아 및 다른 막(membrane)에 고정된 형태와 적혈구(erythrocyte)에 있는 용해성 형태로 존재한다. 소포체의 세포질 쪽에 주로 위치하는 막 결합형은 지방산 불포화 및 신장, 콜레스테롤 생합성, 약물 대사에 관여한다. 적혈구 형태는 순환하는 적혈구의 용해성 분획에 존재하며 메트헤모글로빈 환원에 관여한다. 돌연변이는 메트헤모글로빈혈증을 유발한다.
