이 유전자는 펩티데이스 S1 (peptidase S1) 계열 단백질을 암호화한다. 이 단백질은 키모트립신 유사 단백질분해효소 (chymotrypsin-like protease) 활성을 가지며 혈청 칼슘 감소 인자로 작용한다. 대안적 스플라이싱 전사체 변이체가 관찰되었으나, 이들의 전체 길이는 결정되지 않았다.
