유전자 개요
CREB(CREB1) 유전자는 DNA 결합 단백질인 류신 지퍼(leucine zipper) 계열의 일원으로서 전사인자(transcription factor)를 암호화한다. 이 단백질은 cAMP-반응성 요소, 즉 팔중체 회문(octameric palindrome)에 동종이량체(homodimer) 형태로 결합한다. 여러 단백질 키나아제(protein kinase)에 의해 인산화되는 이 단백질은 cAMP 신호 전달 경로의 호르몬 자극에 반응하여 유전자 전사(transcription)를 유도한다. 이 유전자의 대체 스플라이싱(alternate splicing)은 서로 다른 아이소폼(isoform)을 암호화하는 여러 전사 변이체를 생성한다.
