유전자 개요

제1형 콜라젠의 프로-알파2 사슬은 이 유전자에 의해 지정되며, 이 콜라젠의 삼중 나선은 두 개의 알파1 사슬과 한 개의 알파2 사슬로 구성된다. 제1형 콜라젠은 대부분의 결합 조직에서 발견되는 섬유 형성 콜라젠으로, 뼈, 각막, 진피, 힘줄에 풍부하다. 이 유전자의 돌연변이는 골형성부전증(osteogenesis imperfecta) I-IV형, 엘러스-단로스 증후군(Ehlers-Danlos syndrome) VIIB형, 열성 엘러스-단로스 증후군 클래식형, 특발성 골다공증(idiopathic osteoporosis), 비정형 마르팡 증후군(Marfan syndrome)과 관련이 있다.
