CFL1 유전자가 지정하는 단백질은 pH에 따라 F-액틴(F-actin)과 G-액틴(G-actin)을 중합 및 탈중합할 수 있다. LIM 키나아제(kinase)에 의한 이 단백질의 인산화(phosphorylation) 증가는 Rho에 의한 액틴 세포골격(cytoskeleton) 재구성 촉진에 기여한다. 코필린(cofilin)은 세포질(cytoplasm)에서 세포핵(nucleus)으로 액틴-코필린 복합체 이동에 관여하며, pH 의존적으로 필라멘트 F-액틴에 결합하여 탈중합하고 단량체 G-액틴의 중합을 억제하는 세포 내 액틴 조절 단백질이다.
