유전자 개요

이 유전자는 펩타이드 분해 효소(peptidase) 패밀리 S1에 속하는 카이모트립신 유사 세린 단백질 분해 효소(chymotryptic serine proteinase)를 암호화합니다. 비만 세포(mast cell)에서 발현되며 세포외 기질(extracellular matrix) 분해, 점막하선 분비 조절, 혈관 활성 펩타이드(vasoactive peptide) 생성에 관여하는 것으로 생각됩니다. 심장 및 혈관에서는 이 단백질이 안지오텐신 전환 효소(angiotensin converting enzyme) 대신 안지오텐신 I을 혈관 활성 펩타이드인 안지오텐신 II로 전환하는 데 주로 관여합니다. 대안적 스플라이싱(alternative splicing)을 통해 여러 변이체가 생성될 수 있습니다.
