유전자 개요
이 유전자는 밀착 연접(tight junction)에만 국한되어 존재하는 주요 통과성 막(integral membrane) 단백질인 클라우딘(claudin) 단백질 계열에 속한다. 클라우딘은 장기 특이적으로 발현되며 밀착 연접의 조직 특이적 생리적 특성을 조절한다. 이 단백질은 장에서 발현된다. 이 유전자에 대해 서로 다른 5’ 비번역 영역을 가진 대체 스플라이싱 전사체 변이체들이 발견되었다.
