유전자 개요
CHL1 유전자가 지정하는 단백질은 신경 세포 부착 분자(neural cell adhesion molecules)의 L1 유전자 계열 구성원이다. 이 단백질은 신호 전달 경로(signal transduction pathways)에 관여할 수 있는 신경 인식 분자이다. 이 유전자 사본 하나가 삭제(deletion)되면 3p- 증후군(syndrome) 환자에서 정신 결함의 원인이 될 수 있다. 또한 이 단백질은 특정 암의 성장에 역할을 할 수도 있다. 대체 스플라이싱(alternate splicing)을 통해 코딩 변이체와 비코딩 변이체가 모두 생성된다.
