키토트리오시다아제(Chitotriosidase)는 활성화된 사람 대식세포(macrophage)에서 분비되며, 고셔병(Gaucher disease) 환자의 혈장에서 현저히 증가합니다. 이 효소는 단핵구(monocyte)에서 활성화된 대식세포로 분화되는 후기 단계에서 발현됩니다. 사람 대식세포는 매우 보존적인 효소인 기능적 키토트리오시다아제를 합성할 수 있으며, 이 효소의 발현은 엄격하게 조절됩니다. 이 효소는 키틴(chitin) 함유 병원체의 분해에 역할을 할 수 있습니다. 이 유전자에 대해 여러 대체 스플라이싱(splicing) 전사체 변이체(transcript variant)가 보고되었습니다.
