유전자 개요
이 유전자에 의해 암호화된 단백질은 세포자멸사(apoptosis)의 조절자이며 카스파제-8(caspase-8)과 구조적으로 유사하다. 그러나 이 단백질은 카스파제 활성이 결여되어 있으며 카스파제-8에 의해 두 개의 펩타이드로 절단되는 것으로 보인다. 이 유전자에 대해 서로 다른 아이소폼(isoform)을 암호화하는 여러 전사체 변이체(transcript variant)가 발견되었고, 몇 가지 추가 변이체에 대한 부분적인 증거도 존재한다.
