유전자 개요

CFH는 보체 활성 조절인자(Regulator of Complement Activation, RCA) 유전자 군에 속하며, 20개의 짧은 공통 반복(short consensus repeat, SCR) 도메인으로 이루어진 단백질을 암호화한다. 이 단백질은 혈류로 분비되어 보체 활성 조절에 필수적인 역할을 하며, 이러한 선천성 방어 기전을 미생물 감염에 국한시킨다. CFH의 돌연변이는 용혈성 요독 증후군(hemolytic-uremic syndrome, HUS) 및 만성 저보체혈성 신병증과 연관되며, 서로 다른 동형 단백질을 암호화하는 대체 전사 스플라이스 변이체들이 규명되었다.
