이 단백질은 중심체 형성을 촉진하는 고도로 보존된 단백질입니다. 포고 DNA 트랜스포존 계열의 트랜스포나아제에서 유래한 DNA 결합 단백질로, N-말단에 헬릭스-루프-헬릭스(helix-loop-helix) DNA 결합 모티프와 C-말단에 이합체화 도메인을 포함합니다. DNA 결합 도메인은 중심체 알파 위성 DNA 내 17bp 서열(CENP-B 박스)을 인식하고 결합합니다. 이 단백질은 간기 핵 및 유사분열 염색체에서 특정 중심체 구조의 조립에 중요한 역할을 할 것으로 제안됩니다.
