유전자 개요

CEBPB는 인트론이 없는 유전자로, 기본 류신 지퍼(basic leucine zipper, bZIP) 도메인을 가진 전사인자(transcription factor)를 암호화한다. 이 단백질은 동종이량체(homodimer)로 작용하지만 CCAAT/인핸서 결합 단백질(CCAAT/enhancer-binding protein) 알파, 델타, 감마와 이종이량체(heterodimer)를 형성하기도 하며, 면역 및 염증 반응을 비롯한 여러 과정에 관여하는 유전자의 조절에서 중요한 역할을 한다. 대체 인프레임(in-frame) AUG 시작 코돈의 사용으로 서로 다른 생물학적 기능을 지닌 여러 단백질 아이소폼(isoform)이 생성된다.
