유전자 개요
이 유전자는 세포 표면 당단백질(glycoprotein)이자 암 항원(carcinoembryonic antigen, CEA) 단백질 계열의 구성원이다. 이 유전자의 발현은 대장암 및 직장암에서 하향 조절될 수 있다. 또한, 이 유전자의 낮은 발현 수준은 직장암 재발을 예측할 수 있다. 이 유전자는 19번 염색체 상의 CEA 계열 유전자 군집에 존재한다. 대안적 스플라이싱(alternative splicing)을 통해 여러 전사체 변이체(transcript variant)가 생성된다.
