유전자 개요
이 유전자는 세포 부착 분자의 카르시노엠브리오닉 항원 관련 계열(CEACAMs) 구성원을 암호화한다. 이 CEACAM 계열 단백질들은 여러 세균 병원균이 숙주 세포에 결합하고 침입하는 데 이용된다. 암호화된 막 단백질은 소형 GTPase(GTPase) Rac에 의존적인 여러 세균 종의 식작용(phagocytosis)을 지시한다. 선천 면역 체계가 인간 특이적 병원균을 조절하는 데 중요한 역할을 하는 것으로 생각된다. 대안적으로 접합된 전사체 변이체들이 기술되었다.
