유전자 개요

CEACAM1은 면역글로불린 슈퍼패밀리(immunoglobulin superfamily)에 속하는 암배아항원(carcinoembryonic antigen, CEA) 유전자 패밀리의 구성원을 암호화한다. 이 단백질은 처음 간 담관에서 담즙성 당단백질(biliary glycoprotein)로 기술되었으나 이후 백혈구·상피·내피에서 검출되는 세포-세포 접착 분자로 확인되었으며, 동종친화성(homophilic) 및 이종친화성(heterophilic) 결합을 통해 세포 접착을 매개한다. 조직의 3차원 구조 분화와 배열, 혈관신생, 세포자멸사(apoptosis), 종양 억제, 전이, 선천성 및 적응성 면역반응 조절 등 다양한 기능이 보고되어 있다.
