유전자 개요
CDH2 유전자는 고전적 카드헤린(cadherin) 계열의 구성원이자 카드헤린 슈퍼패밀리(cadherin superfamily)의 일원인 단백질을 암호화한다. 대안적 스플라이싱(alternative splicing)으로 인해 여러 전사체 변이체가 생성되며, 이 중 최소 하나는 칼슘 의존성 세포 부착 분자(calcium-dependent cell adhesion molecule)이자 당단백질(glycoprotein)을 생성하는 전구단백질(preproprotein)을 암호화한다. 이 단백질은 좌우 비대칭 형성, 신경계 발달, 연골 및 뼈 형성에 관여한다.
