유전자 개요
이 유전자가 암호화하는 단백질은 백혈구 이동, T세포 부착, 강글리오사이드 GM1 및 막횡단 단백질 수송, 그리고 카스파아제 비의존적 경로를 통한 T세포 사멸에 관여하는 세포 표면 당단백질(glycoprotein)입니다. 또한, 암호화된 단백질은 액틴 세포골격(cytoskeleton) 재배열 능력을 가질 수 있으며, 골육종(osteosarcoma)에서 종양 억제자(oncosuppressor)로 작용할 수도 있습니다. 이 유전자는 X 및 Y 염색체의 유사분열 유사 부위(pseudoautosomal region)에서 발견되며 X 염색체 불활성화를 회피합니다. 이 유전자 좌위(locus) 바로 옆에 관련 유사 위유전자(pseudogene)가 존재합니다.
