유전자 개요
이 유전자에서 암호화하는 단백질은 세포 표면 당단백질(glycoprotein)이며 제1형 막(membrane) 단백질로, 원래는 골수 세포 특이적 표지자(marker)로 확인되었다. 이 단백질은 과거 C1q 수용체(receptor)로 여겨졌으나, 현재는 세포 간 접착 및 사멸 세포 제거에 관여하는 것으로 생각된다. 이 단백질의 세포질 말단은 세포골격(cytoskeleton) 재형성과 막 단백질을 세포골격에 연결하는 역할을 하는 것으로 알려진 모에신(moesin)과 상호작용하는 것으로 밝혀졌다.
