유전자 개요
이 유전자는 신호 림프구 활성화 분자(signaling lymphocyte activation molecule, SLAM) 계열에 속하는 막 당단백질(membrane glycoprotein)을 암호화한다. 이 계열은 더 큰 CD2 세포 표면 수용체(receptor) 면역글로불린(Ig) 슈퍼패밀리(superfamily)의 일부를 이룬다. 암호화된 단백질은 많은 면역 세포 유형에서 발현되며, 해당 세포에서 수용체 매개 신호 전달 조절에 관여하는 호모필릭 접착 분자이다. 대체 스플라이싱으로 여러 전사체 변이가 나타난다.
