B 림프구 항원 수용체(antigen receptor)는 표면 면역글로불린(surface immunoglobulin, Ig)을 포함하는 다량체 복합체이다. 표면 Ig는 B 세포 항원 수용체의 발현과 기능에 필요한 Ig-알파 및 Ig-베타 두 단백질과 비공유 결합으로 연관된다. 이 유전자는 B 세포 항원의 Ig-알파 단백질을 암호화한다. 다양한 아이소폼(isoform)을 암호화하는 대체 접합 전사체 변이체(transcript variants)가 기술된 바 있다.
