유전자 개요
이 유전자는 작은 사이토카인 CC 유전자 하위 계열에 속한다. 사이토카인(cytokine)은 면역 조절 및 염증 과정에 관여하는 분비 단백질 계열이다. CC 사이토카인은 두 개의 인접한 시스테인으로 특징지어지는 단백질이다. 이 유전자가 지정하는 사이토카인은 수지상세포, 흉선세포, 활성화된 대식세포에 대한 케모카인(chemokine) 활성을 나타내지만, 말초혈액 림프구와 호중구에는 작용하지 않는다. 이 유전자의 산물은 케모카인 수용체(chemokine receptor) CCR9에 결합한다. 대체 스플라이싱으로 인해 여러 전사체 변이가 나타난다.
