유전자 개요
이 항균 유전자는 염색체 17번의 q 팔에 군집해 있는 여러 Cys-Cys(CC) 사이토카인(cytokine) 유전자 중 하나이다. 사이토카인은 면역 조절 및 염증 과정에 관여하는 분비 단백질 계열이다. CC 사이토카인은 두 개의 인접한 시스테인(cysteine)으로 특징지어지는 단백질이다. 이 유전자가 암호화하는 사이토카인은 미경험 T 세포, CD4+ 및 CD8+ T 세포, 그리고 비활성화된 림프구에 대해서는 화학주성(chemotactic) 활성을 보이지만, 단핵구(monocyte)나 과립구(granulocyte)에 대해서는 그렇지 않다. 이 케모카인(chemokine)은 미경험 T 림프구를 림프절 내의 수지상 세포(dendritic cell) 및 활성화된 대식세포(macrophage)로 끌어당긴다. 이 유전자는 체액성 및 세포 매개 면역 반응 모두에서 역할을 할 수 있다.
