이 항균 유전자는 17번 염색체 q 팔에 군집된 여러 시스테인-시스테인(CC) 사이토카인(cytokine) 유전자 중 하나입니다. 해당 유전자가 암호화하는 사이토카인은 단핵구, 림프구, 호염기구 및 호산구에 대한 케모탁시스(chemotactic) 활성을 나타내지만, 호중구에는 나타내지 않습니다. 이 케모카인(chemokine)은 염증(inflammation) 중 백혈구 축적에 역할을 합니다.
