CCKAR는 콜레시스토키닌(cholecystokinin, CCK) 계열 펩타이드 호르몬의 비황산화(non-sulfated) 구성원과 결합하는 G-단백질 연결 수용체(G-protein coupled receptor)를 암호화한다. 이 수용체는 췌장 효소 분비와 담낭 및 위 평활근(smooth muscle) 수축을 매개하는 주요 생리적 인자이다. 또한 중추 및 말초 신경계에서 포만감과 베타-엔도르핀(beta-endorphin) 및 도파민(dopamine) 방출을 조절한다.
