유전자 개요
CASP5 유전자는 사이토졸 단백질분해효소(protease) 계열 효소(enzyme)의 한 구성원을 암호화한다. 이 효소 계열은 세포자멸사(apoptosis) 실행 단계에서 순차적으로 활성화되어 중심적인 역할을 수행한다. 해당 유전자에서 암호화하는 단백질은 세포 성장, 분화 및 세포자멸사에 중요한 Myc/Max/Mad 전사(transcription) 조절 네트워크의 주요 구성 요소인 Max를 절단하며, 이 과정은 Fas 매개 Max 탈인산화를 필요로 한다. 이 유전자의 발현은 인터페론(interferon)-감마와 지질다당류에 의해 조절된다.
