이 단백질은 G 단백질 연결 수용체(G protein-coupled receptor) 활성과 보체 성분 C5a 수용체(complement component C5a receptor) 활성을 가능하게 한다. 보체 성분 C5a 신호 전달 경로, RNA 중합효소 II(RNA polymerase II)에 의한 mRNA 전사, ERK1 및 ERK2 캐스케이드의 양성 조절을 포함한 여러 과정에 관여한다. 세포의 첨부 분절(apical part of cell)과 기저 측면 세포막(basolateral plasma membrane)에 위치한다. 알츠하이머병, 천식, 만성 폐쇄성 폐질환, 비염, 중증 급성 호흡기 증후군(severe acute respiratory syndrome)의 바이오마커이다.
