유전자 개요
C2 유전자는 보체 시스템의 고전 경로의 일부로 작용하는 혈청 당단백질(glycoprotein)을 지정합니다. 활성화된 C1은 C2를 C2a와 C2b로 분해합니다. 세린 단백질 분해 효소(serine proteinase)인 C2a는 보체 인자 4b와 결합하여 C3 또는 C5 전환 효소(convertase)를 생성합니다. C2 결핍은 특정 자가면역 질환과 관련이 있는 것으로 보고되었으며, 이 유전자의 단일 염기 다형성(SNP)은 연령 관련 황반 변성(age-related macular degeneration)에 대한 감수성 변화와 관련이 있었습니다. 이 유전자는 염색체 6의 단완에 위치한 MHC의 클래스 III 영역 내에 자리합니다. 대체 스플라이싱(alternative splicing)은 서로 다른 아이소폼(isoform)을 암호화하는 여러 전사 변이를 결과합니다. 추가적인 전사 변이가 논문에 기술되었으나 전체 길이 서열은 결정되지 않았습니다.
