이 단백질은 카스파제 결합 활성, 단백질-거대분자 연결 활성, 그리고 유비퀴틴(ubiquitin) 단백질 연결효소(ligase) 활성을 가능하게 합니다. 이 유전자는 IRE1 매개 미접힘 단백질 반응의 음성 조절, 프로테아좀(proteasome) 매개 유비퀴틴(ubiquitin) 의존적 단백질 분해 과정, 단백질 유비퀴틴화(ubiquitination)에 관여합니다. 또한 세포 사멸 과정의 음성 조절 상위에서 작용하며, 소포체(endoplasmic reticulum)와 막(membrane)에 위치합니다.
