유전자 개요
BCL2는 미토콘드리아 외막에 결합하는 막 통합 단백질(integral outer mitochondrial membrane protein)을 암호화하며, 림프구(lymphocyte)와 같은 일부 세포의 세포자멸사(apoptosis)를 억제한다. BCL2가 면역글로불린 중쇄 유전자좌(Ig heavy chain locus)로 전위되는 경우처럼 BCL2가 구성적으로 발현되는 것은 여포성 림프종(follicular lymphoma)의 원인으로 여겨진다. 대체 스플라이싱(alternative splicing)을 통해 여러 전사체 변이체(transcript variants)가 생성된다.
