유전자 개요
이 유전자는 Tyro3-Axl-Mer (TAM) 수용체 티로신 키나아제(receptor tyrosine kinase) 서브패밀리(subfamily)의 구성원인 단백질을 암호화한다. 암호화된 단백질은 N-말단에 두 개의 면역글로불린 유사 모티프(immunoglobulin-like motif)와 두 개의 피브로넥틴 타입-III 모티프(fibronectin type-III motif)로 구성된 세포외 도메인(extracellular domain)을 가진다. 비타민 K 의존성 단백질인 성장 정지 특이 6 (Gas6)에 결합하여 세포외 기질로부터 세포질(cytoplasm)로 신호를 전달한다. 이 유전자는 여러 세포 유형에서 성장, 이동, 응집 및 항염증(anti-inflammation)을 포함한 여러 세포 기능에 관여할 수 있다. 암호화된 단백질은 마르부르크, 에볼라, 라싸 바이러스를 포함한 여러 바이러스의 숙주 세포 수용체(host cell receptor)로 작용하며 SARS-CoV2 바이러스의 후보 수용체이다.
