유전자 개요
APOA4 유전자는 두 개의 인트론(intron)에 의해 분리된 3개의 엑손(exon)으로 구성된다. 세 번째 엑손의 3’UTR에서는 염기서열다형성(sequence polymorphism)이 확인되었고, 1차 번역(translation) 산물은 396개 잔기(residue)의 전구체 단백질(preprotein)이다. 이 전구체 단백질은 단백질분해적 처리(proteolytic processing)를 거쳐 주요 합성 부위인 장(intestine)에서 킬로미크론(chylomicron) 입자와 함께 분비되며, 아포 A-IV(apo A-IV)는 시험관 내에서 레시틴-콜레스테롤 아실트랜스퍼라아제(LCAT)의 강력한 활성화인자(activator)이다.
