유전자 개요
이 유전자는 잘 보존된 아밀로이드 전구체 단백질 유전자 계열 구성원을 암호화한다. 생성된 단백질은 아밀로이드 베타 A4 전구체 단백질 절단과 유사한 방식으로 세크레타아제(secretases)에 의해 절단되는 막(membrane)-연관 당단백질(glycoprotein)이다. 이 절단을 통해 핵 전사 인자 역할을 할 수 있는 세포질 내부 단편이 방출된다. 생성된 단백질은 대뇌 피질 발달 중 시냅스 성숙에도 관여할 수 있다. 다양한 아이소폼(isoform)을 암호화하는 대안적 스플라이싱 전사체 변이체가 기술되었다.
