ANXA3는 안넥신(annexin) 가족 단백질을 암호화한다. 이 칼슘 의존성 인지질 결합 단백질(calcium-dependent phospholipid-binding protein) 가족 구성원은 세포 성장 조절과 신호 전달 경로(signal transduction pathway)에 관여하며, 해당 단백질은 포스포리파아제 A2(phospholipase A2)를 억제하고 이노시톨 1,2-환상 인산(inositol 1,2-cyclic phosphate)을 이노시톨 1-인산(inositol 1-phosphate)으로 절단한다. 또한 항응고(anti-coagulation)에도 작용할 수 있다.
